AI product photography, compared honestly

Zenith is not the right answer for every product. These pages explain what AI product photography does well, what it cannot do, and how it compares with the alternatives.

Most product photography pages are written to sell a tool. These are written to help you choose, which means they say where a photographer is still better, where Photoshop is still the right tool, and which jobs an AI app should not be used for.

Where a comparison names another product, the claim is limited to what can be verified: what the tool is for, how it is priced, and what it does not do. No invented ratings, no invented prices.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is AI product photography good enough for a marketplace listing?

For most products, yes — the requirements are a clean background, correct colour, adequate resolution and an accurate representation of the product, and an AI app that removes and replaces the background satisfies all four. Where it is not enough is where the original photo is poor.

When should I still hire a photographer?

For brand campaigns, packaging design, lifestyle shoots with models, and anything where the composition is the product. A photographer is also better for very large or very reflective items, where the set is the work.

Is it dishonest to use an AI-generated background?

Only if the scene misrepresents the product — its size, its contents or its quality. Changing the background, the light and the props is styling, which is what product photography has always done. Changing the product is misrepresentation.
