Shopee product photos

Shopee is a mobile-first, comparison-heavy marketplace. The main image has to be square, clean and instantly readable on a phone.

The main image, and why square wins

Shopee displays products in a square grid on a phone screen, and it crops anything that is not square. A wide photo loses its sides; a tall photo loses its top and bottom. Shoot square, or leave enough space around the product that the square crop keeps everything.

The main image should be the product alone on a plain background — white is the convention and the safest choice. Shopee's minimum is 500 x 500 px, and 1024 x 1024 px or larger is what keeps the image sharp on high-density phone screens.

  • Square, at least 500 x 500 px; 1024 x 1024 px recommended.
  • Product alone on a plain white background, filling most of the frame.
  • No text, no watermarks, no collages on the main image.
  • Up to nine images per listing — use them.

Selling in a comparison grid

Shopee search results are dense: a dozen near-identical products in a column, all with white backgrounds. The differences a buyer can actually perceive are the framing, the lighting and the crop consistency across your own listings.

Consistency is underrated. A store where every main image has the product at the same scale, the same angle and the same light looks like a brand; a store with a mixture looks like a reseller, and buyers price accordingly.

  • Same angle and same scale for every product in a category.
  • Even light with no harsh shadow across the product.
  • Secondary images for scale, contents and use — buyers ask for these in chat otherwise.
  • Localised details: sizes in centimetres, materials named the way buyers search for them.

Producing a store's worth of images

Shopee sellers usually list in volume. Zenith AI – Product Photo takes a photo of each item, removes the background, relights it and exports a square image, so a batch shot in one session comes out looking like one photographer took them all.

For a store with hundreds of listings, that consistency is the difference between a grid that converts and one that gets scrolled past.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size should Shopee product images be?

Square, with a minimum of 500 x 500 px. 1024 x 1024 px is the practical target: it stays sharp on modern phone screens and leaves room for Shopee's own crops.

Does Shopee require a white background?

Shopee does not enforce white the way Amazon does, but a plain white background is the convention in the search grid and it makes the product easier to read at small sizes. Keep styled images for the secondary slots.

How many photos should a Shopee listing have?

Shopee allows up to nine images per listing, and using most of them helps: a white main image, two or three detail shots, a scale shot and an in-use photo. Buyers who get their questions answered in the images do not open a chat.

Can I use the same images on Shopee and Lazada?

Yes. Both are square-first marketplaces with the same white-background convention, so one well-shot set serves both. Adjust the secondary images for the local market if the products are sized or packaged differently.
