A Ludex alternative, compared fairly
Ludex is a sports card scanning and value app. This page sets out what it does, what Zenith does differently, and the test that decides between them.
What Ludex is
Ludex is a mobile app built around scanning sports cards and checking their value, aimed at collectors who want a quick price on a card without researching it by hand. It has expanded into collection management and marketplace features.
It is a reasonable choice for a collector who wants a fast value on a single card, and it covers both sports cards and trading card games.
- Card scanning and value lookup.
- Collection management features.
- Covers sports cards and trading card games.
- Mobile app with paid tiers.
Where Zenith differs
Zenith is sports-card focused and built around the collection rather than the single card: scan a card, confirm the identification, and it lands in a portfolio with a value and price history attached. The total updates as values move.
The other difference is scope. Zenith covers baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer and other sports cards — modern releases, vintage, rookies, parallels, inserts and graded slabs — and it does not attempt trading card games.
- Sports cards only, with deeper coverage of parallels and vintage.
- Portfolio tracking as the primary view, not the individual lookup.
- Comparable sales visible behind each value.
- iPhone and iPad only.
The test that decides it
Scan the same five difficult cards in both apps: a numbered parallel, a foil card, a vintage card with no card number, a graded slab, and a common base card. Compare the identifications and the values, and look for the sales behind each value.
That comparison takes twenty minutes and tells you more than any feature list — including this one.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Zenith a good alternative to Ludex?
For sports card collectors who want a collection portfolio with values built from real sales, yes. Ludex also covers trading card games, so if you collect those as well, its broader scope may suit you better.
Which is more accurate for card values?
Test both with the same cards and check whether the value shows the sales behind it. Accuracy differences show up most on parallels and vintage cards, where identification is harder and the value gap is largest.
Does Zenith cover trading card games?
No. Zenith covers baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer and other sports cards, including vintage and graded slabs. Trading card games are outside its scope.
Can I use both apps?
You can, and some collectors do, but there is little benefit: the value is in having one record of your collection rather than two. Pick the one that identifies your cards best and keep the collection there.
