Collecting, in practice
The parts of the hobby that are not about money: how to store cards, read a parallel, check a condition, and build a set without losing interest.
Most collecting advice is about buying. These pages are about the other half: keeping cards in the condition you bought them in, understanding what you actually have, and organising a collection so it stays usable.
Each page covers one practice, in the order most collectors encounter it — storage first, because that is where value is lost fastest.

FAQ
よくある質問
What is the most important thing to get right?
Storage. Cards lose value to humidity, sunlight, heat and physical damage, and all four are avoidable with sleeves, rigid holders, a cool dry room and a box that closes. Everything else can be fixed later.
Do I need to catalogue my collection?
If it is worth more than a few hundred dollars, yes — for insurance, for knowing what you have, and for avoiding duplicate purchases. A scanned collection with values attached takes minutes per box rather than weeks.
How do I learn what my cards are?
Read the card: player, year, set design on the front, card number and set name on the back, then the parallel. That combination identifies any card, and the parallel is the part most people miss.
